The core loop is buildable, but a dependable replacement becomes a real weekend or multi-day project. For Tidio, run website chat, canned replies, and a simple support inbox. The hard boundary is hosted chat network, bots, ai agent, email, analytics, and ecommerce integrations, plus channel integrations and support operations.

# Tidio indie build

## Goal

Build the smallest trustworthy replacement for the core Tidio workflow for one developer or a tiny team.

## Scope

Receive website chat messages, route them into a shared support inbox, reply from one place with canned replies, and retain a searchable conversation history.

## Quick start

1. Install the documented dependencies.
2. Copy `.env.example` to `.env`.
3. Run the development command chosen during implementation.
4. Complete the acceptance checks in `BUILD_PLAN.md`.

## Honest limits

This build deliberately does not replace:
- hosted chat network, bots, AI agent, email, analytics, and ecommerce integrations
- omnichannel integrations
- large-scale deliverability
- AI resolution tuning
- enterprise routing and compliance

If those capabilities are essential, use Chatwoot instead of pretending the gap is solved.

why people still pay

People still pay for Tidio because support software survives because missing or misrouting one customer message is expensive and every channel behaves differently. The recurring cost buys message delivery, webhooks, threading, identity, permissions, attachments, notifications, spam, search, uptime, and retention, not just the visible interface.
