The core loop is small enough for a capable coding agent to produce a useful local version in one sitting. For Typedream, create a simple responsive landing site from text-first blocks and publish it. The hard boundary is hosted editing, forms, analytics, domains, and polished templates, plus editor polish, hosting, templates, and ecosystem.

# Typedream indie build

## Goal

Build the smallest trustworthy replacement for the core Typedream workflow for one developer or a tiny team.

## Scope

Assemble a simple responsive landing site from text-first blocks, edit copy and media, preview breakpoints, and publish a static site to a user-owned target.

## Quick start

1. Install the documented dependencies.
2. Copy `.env.example` to `.env`.
3. Run the development command chosen during implementation.
4. Complete the acceptance checks in `BUILD_PLAN.md`.

## Honest limits

This build deliberately does not replace:
- hosted editing, forms, analytics, domains, and polished templates
- large template marketplace
- managed hosting and CDN
- advanced CMS
- commerce and agency workflows

If those capabilities are essential, use Webstudio instead of pretending the gap is solved.

why people still pay

People still pay for Typedream because the page renderer is reproducible, but customers pay to avoid becoming their own hosting and browser-compatibility team. The recurring cost buys responsive rendering, forms, domains, certificates, deploys, backups, template maintenance, and browser regressions, not just the visible interface.

questions
Vibecode Typedream

Yes. A competent AI coding agent (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) can build a usable personal Typedream replacement in one session with the prompt on this page. It runs on your own machine or server with no subscription.

How much does Typedream cost?

Typedream costs about $15/month (Launch, checked 2026-07-31), which is $180 per year. That's what you save by replacing it with one prompt.

What do I lose by replacing Typedream?

Honestly: hosted editing, forms, analytics, domains, and polished templates; large template marketplace; managed hosting and CDN; advanced CMS; commerce and agency workflows. If any of those are load-bearing for you, keep paying.

Is there an open-source alternative to Typedream?

Yes: Webstudio (A polished visual builder for simple sites if you can tolerate self-hosting for a free custom domain.) Publii (A desktop block editor that publishes a static site; simple, portable and resolutely not collaborative.) Plasmic (Hosted blocks, responsive design and custom domains free; dramatically more knobs than Typedream.) All 5 curated free alternatives are at vibecodeit.com/typedream/alternatives. The prompt is for when you want it exactly your way.
